Climbing mount Mateo is probably one of the easiest summist to climbing and one of the best preparation climbing expeditions before attempting to climb higher mountains in the Cordillera Blanca, ideal for acclimatization.

We live very early from Huaraz around 3:00 am, to drive to the north along the Callejon de Huaylas until Carhuaz, then we deviate toward the east on the good paved way, into the Ulta ravine until reach the parking site at height of 4800m, from where we begin walking up on faint path on rocky until reach the glacier as soon as we will reach the glacier we climbing upon north side of this spectacular peck, after exceeding small ice slope we will reach the summit, where we will have wondrous view of towering fluted summits over 6000 meters, then we back on the same route ascent until parking site where our private transportation will be waiting us to back Huaraz.
