Day 1: Huaraz – Pocpa (3450m)/11,316ft – Cuartelhuain (4170m)/13,677ft
In the morning we drive heading south of Huaraz o the motor way until small town of chiquian, then we follow driving with good views of Yerupaja, the highest peak of the Huayhuash and the second highest in Peru. Crossing the low point of the entire route at the Cora Bridge (2700m), we continue driving to passing on the way by mountainvillages of Llamac– pocpa, last one is the gateway of Cordillera Huayhuash, towards Cuartelhuain along the Rio Llamac, As we approach the entrance of Rondoy valley, the view start opening up into a rolling grassy area where we the first view of snow- capped peaks of rondoy and ninashanca.

Day 2: Cuartelhuain – Cacananpunta Pass (4690m)/15,383ft – Mitucocha (4200m)

ToDay we cross the pass Cacanampunta, the trail ascend on gradual ascend until reach the pass, this pass is at the northern extremity of the Huayhuash range and also marks the continental divide, with all rivers to the east flowing away towards the Amazon Basin. After a rest at the top, we descend to the broad valley Quebrada Caliente and then turn into valley that leads to Lake Mitucocha (4200m).

Day 3: Mitucocha – Carhuac Pass (4640m)/15,290 ft-Lake Carhuacocha (4100m) /13,448ft

On this Day we climb up to the next pass, the Carhuac (4650m), there are close-up views of the rounded summit snowfields of Yerupaja (6634m) from the crest of the Carhuac. The pass itself is an excellent area for fossils, on our descent toward Laguna Carhuacocha, there are excellent panoramic views of several peaks. We camp above the lake at 4200 metres. This spectacular camp is the best on the east side of range, lying beneath the stunning peaks of Yerupaja and Jirishanca.

Day 4: Rest Day at Lake Carhuacocha

We spend an extra Day at spectacular Lake Carhuacocha either:

• To enjoy taking the most dramatic pictures from the camping spot
• Optional Hike up to visit the three spectacular lakes such as: ganrajanca, siula and quesilojanca, which are lies below of huge east faces of Yerupaja and Siula Grande.
• Or we can take an easy walk around Lake Carhuacocha, try to fishing trout

Day 5: Carhuacocha – Siula Pass (4834m)/15,840ft – Huayhuash (4345m)/14,250ft

For this Day we have choice routes: The first option follows a demanding, challenging and worthwhile, trail to cross a steep pass to Punta Suila (4800m) via some lakes with stunning views of the surrounding peaks. Alternatively we can follow the normal route crossing via Punta Carnicero (4600m), which is suitable for people, who do not have a good shape. Both routes make for a long but spectacular Day’s trekking. We camp at the small hamlet of Huayhuash

Day 6: Huayhuash – Portachuelo Pass (4750m)/15,580ft – Viconga (4425m) /14,514ft

We start walking up the valley heading south towards the spectacular pass of Portachuelo de Huayhuash, over the pass we will spend short time to enjoy the view of the smaller cordillera Raura, which has amazing snow-capped peaks, and then we descend towards the largest Lake Viconga until vigonca camp site bellow puscanturpa and Cuyoc Mountain. In the afternoon we will be able to enjoy taking shower and swimming in hot spring close our camp site.

Day 7: Viconga – cuyoc pass (5000 m)/16,400ft – Huanacpatay (4363m)/14,72ft

This Day we will hike the second highest pass on our trek, after seven Days trekking above 4000m, your body is now well acclimatized to cross the Punta cuyoc pass, from the pass we will have the most impressive mountain views, and tremendous views of Siula Grande and Sarapao yerupja and rasac – some of the best views on the trek. After stopping to admire the views, we descend the scree slopes below the pass. This steep descent leads to the flat bottom grass valley heading toward jatun cuyoc camp site in Quebrada Huanacpatay.

Day 8: Huanacpatay – San Antonio Pass (5100m)/16,728ft – Calinca Valley at (4100m)/ 13,448ft

This Day we can cross another pass at around 5000 metres until reach San Antonio pass with some of the most fantastic views of Laguna Sarapo and Laguna Jurau. The ascent to the pass is steep and there is not much of a trail but the effort is well worth it. We usually see vicuna and there is often a condor flying overhead. Then we will descend to calinca valley, 0n descending path is steep and slippery until Cutatambo camp site in Calinca valley.

Day 9: Rest Day at Calinca Valley

• This Day is a good time to catch up on diaries and laundry or to simply relax in this superb setting.
• For those with energy there is the option of trekking up to Siula Grande Base camp, to see the place, where Joe Simpson’s movie was filmed, called “Touching the Void”, where we can clearly see the route that Joe followed crawling down the glacier and across the moraine rocks to reach the campsite

Day 10: Cutatambo – Huayllapa (3350m) – Huatiac (4350m)/14,268ft

This Day we walk down along the Calinca valley until the small isolated mountain village of Huayllapa, with beautiful views of waterfalls. In the afternoon we climb up on steep trail to a high camp in the pasture at Huatiac 4350m, which is in the grass meadow under the shadow of Diablo mudo “dumb devil”.

Day 11: Huatiac – Punta Tapush Pass (4750m)/15,580ft – Cashpapampa (4450m)/ 14,590ft

After our breakfast we walking up toward tapush pass, on the trail we will enjoy taking spectacular pictures of background mountains, punta tapush pass is over 4750m with an impressive mountains view, after that we descend to our next camp site, with great view of peaks of the distant Cordillera Blanca.

Day 12: Cashpapampa – Yaucha Pass (4847m)/15,898ft – Jahuacocha (4050m) /13,284ft.

This Day we hike up toward punta yaucha pass, Taking zig-zagging trail until Punta Jahuacocha (4850m), above the pass an optional scramble takes us to a small peak with magical views of the Huayhuash, summit views such as: the majestic yarupaja, it has been considered the second highest mountain in the Peruvian Andes, A steep descent takes us to Quebrada Whacrish with views of Tsacra peaks follow walking down onto our Jahuacocha campsite, which is beautiful camping spot to enjoy watching mountains, and take the most marvelous pictures.

Day 13: Rest Day at Lake Jahuacocha

• First option is simply resting chill-out at our campsite or fishing around lake and enjoying the most astonishing view
• The second option is to make a half Day hike to view point, where we will have the most breath-taking view surrounded by huge Andean peaks

Day 14: Jahuacocha – Pampa Llamac (4270m)/13,940ft – Llamac – Huaraz

After an early breakfast we cross the final pass of the route, the Punta Llamac (4250m) which provides us with our last views of the big peaks. We make our final descent to reach the Llamac. FINISH OUR TREK. Finally we will take our private transportation to back Huaraz.
