Day 1: Huaraz – Cashapampa (2900m) – Llama-corral (3760m)/12,332ft 11 km trek / 4-5 hours hike / gaining elevation (850 m)
We will pick up you at your hotel with our private vehicle then we drive along the Callejón de Huaylas valley, passing through small towns, those still keeps colonial architecture, on the way we will stop several times to enjoy the spectacular views of the Andes including the western face of Peru’s highest peak mount Huascaran. After that we will continue driving until Cashapampa village, where we will meet with donkeys & donkey’s driver. Whereas they are loading our gears on the donkeys back, we will begin with our trek, we will walk upon the right bank of Santa Cruz river trough by into the narrow valley with sparkling waterfalls, groves & high land bushes and trees until reach a wide grass meadow, where is located our campsite with spectacular view of snowcapped peaks at the valleys head. Day 2: Llamacorral – Alpamayo Base Camp (4200m)/13,776ft – Taullipampa (4250m)/13,940ft 13km trek / 6-7 hours hike / gaining elevation 490 m
After breakfast, we will start walking at 8:00 am, passing the beautiful mountain lakes of ichiccocha (small lake) and Jatuncocha (big lake), follow hiking up on the Santa Cruz valley until quisuar, after that we will walk up on steep hill but the trail wind up on sig sag until Alpamayo viewpoint above arhueycocha gorge, Where we will relax and enjoy the splendid summit views of the majestic mountains of Alpamayo, it has lovely flouted ice wall on the south west face, besides the peak has been considered the most beautiful mountain in the world, after a break we follow waking up on arhueycocha valley until reach arhuaeycocha lake 4450 m, then we back on the same way until the view point, from it the route bring us to isolated taullipampa campsite. Day 3: Taullipampa – Punta union Pass (4750m)/15,580ft – Paria Valley (3800m)/12,464ft. 17km trek / 7-8 hours hike / gaining elevation 500 m
After our breakfast at 7:30 am we life toward huaripampa at (3,700 m) we walk up on gradual ascend on pre-Inca route until we reach the Punta Union pass 15,600fts, where we will enjoy the most spectacular & panoramic views surrounded by huge mountains, turquoise lakes, after some rest & enjoy having lunch, summit view: mount Santa Cruz, Quitaraju, Pucajiracas, Rinrijirca, Taulliraju, Artesónraju, y Paria, then we cross the pass for descending on slope and rocky trail toward huaripampa valley, watching small glacier lakes, waterfalls & Andean trees, until our campsite at paria valley. Overnight camp at Paria valley
Day 4: Paria – Vaquería – Cebollapampa (3900 m)/12,792 ft 10km trek / 3-4 hours hike
After our breakfast we leave at 8:00 am walking down on wide meadow or flat valley with sections of quenual & quisuar forest, whose lovely twisted trunks with their orange bark the trail is almost easy until reach huaripampa village, where we meet with friendly & sociable Quechua residents. We follow walking down until reach the bottom valley just crossing the bridge, after that we will start climbing up on toward vaqueria settlement. Where our private transportation is waiting us to drive cebollapampa, on the road we cross on Portachuelo pass, where we enjoy one of the most spectacular mountain views scenery about Huascarán, Huandoy, Pisco and Chacraraju, after that we will follow driving down on several switch-backs until the bottom of Llanganuco valley where is located our camping spot at yurakcoral. Overnight camp at yuraccoral
Day 5: Cebollapampa – Pisco Base Camp (4650m)/15,252 ft. 3-4 hours hike
This day we leave at 8:00 am after our hearty breakfast from cebolla Pampa toward base camp of mount pisco, we walk up on moraine ridge with scree the ascent is gradual after 2 hours hiking up we reach zig zag which bring us until base camp. Overnight at pisco base camp
Day 6: Base Camp – Attempt Pisco Summit at (5752m)/18,866ft – Base Camp Summit day
As usually we leave very early at 12:00 am after a cup of tea o hot water we start walking from the base camp at 1:00 am, we walk up the we descent on loose and gravel rock nowadays we find there a fixed cable then we need to traverse on rocky section until glacier edge, there we rope up and we climb up on the south glacier until reach the cool, from it we follow climbing on west ridge with some steep slopes of 55°, from the top offer impressive view, where we will be able to take the most scenic pictures around it, especially towards Chacraraju, where we focus the huge snow wall is fluting on the south face, After that we retrace on the same route until base Camp. Overnight at base camp
Day 7: Base Camp – Cebollapampa – Base Camp Cholpicalqui
On our last day after our breakfast we walk down until Cebolla Pampa, from it we climb up to chopicalqui base camp, passing on the way through quenual forest and abundant lupines scrubland, other flowers, and several medicinal herbs, we reach the base camp at the great alpine meadow. Overnight at base camp
Day 8: Base Camp – Moraine Camp at (4,900 m)/16,072 ft – Timing walk 3-4 hours / gaining elevation 700 m
This day we meet with our mountain porters, who will support loading our group gear until high amp.
After our breakfast at 8.00 am we leave at 10:00 am toward the moraine camp, traversing rocky path, then walk up on very steep path until reach the moraine camp, from it we enjoy the panorama view to the north several summits: Chacraraju, Pisco, group of Huandoy. Overnight at moraine camp
Day 9: Moraine Camp – High Camp (5300m)/17,384ft (glacier) – Timing walk 4-5 hours / gaining elevation 400 m
Breakfast at 7.30 am and we leave at 9:30am toward the high camp, on this day we climb up on the loose rock until reach the beginning of glacier as soon as we reach it, there we rope up crampons and follow climbing up by easy steep slopes around 15 or 20 minutes we pass rock fall place, after that we pass on steep slopes of 45° – 55 °, traversing glacier jumping several crevasses and ice bridges until reach the high camp on the southwest ridge. Overnight at high camp
Day 10: High Camp- Attempt Summit Chopicalqui (6354 m)/20,841ft – Moraine Camp – Timing climb 12-14 hours up- descend/ gaining elevation 1050 m – 1454 m
Summit day, breakfast at 12:00 am then we will start climbing up very early at 1:00 am on steep slopes of 45° – 55° – 60° depending of the year, crossing several ice bridges, there are some sections of 60° – 65° – 70° before reach the top with 50 m – 60 m, just before the top there is a pitch of 100 m – 120 m where we need to use two ice axes to climbing. Day 11: Moraine Camp/ Base Camp – Chopicalqui Curve – Huaraz
Breakfast at 8:00 Am, we leave at 9:00 am from moraine camp toward big switchback of chopicalqui, where our private transportation is waiting us to back Huaraz. On the way we pass close to beautiful llanganuco lakes, Yungay – Huaraz hotel.
